It is not going to be warm enough to open any hive over the next few days, but next chance I'll stay in there long enough to see the queen, if she is there.Linda Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08089537760868691562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27329001.post-68648675197459512612013-02-26T13:43:32.201-05:002013-02-26T13:43:32.201-05:00Linda. Have you considered switching hive locations to give the weaker hive a boost in foragers while you wait for another opportunity to inspect.Jeff Steenbergenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01511063123637255176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27329001.post-34928693064759350252013-02-25T19:53:59.295-05:002013-02-25T19:53:59.295-05:00At this time of year the wax moths are not a probl...At this time of year the wax moths are not a problem. The hive box has been outdoors in freezing weather which kills any wax moth eggs. However, once it gets warmer, then the wax moths are an issue, although I have also had swarms move into empty boxes full of wax moths and then the bees just clean them out. The landing is quite a sight for several days of bee housecleaning!Linda Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08089537760868691562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27329001.post-59672340653985506362013-02-25T14:25:31.473-05:002013-02-25T14:25:31.473-05:00When you leave a box of frames on the hive to act ...When you leave a box of frames on the hive to act as a swarm trap, do you have to worry about wax moths moving in? I've often wondered how to combat against wax moths if a swarm doesn't move into the trap in a short time period, or even at all?Christopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04612958852770385279noreply@blogger.com
