The cone in the photos were definitely not straight which as you already know is a problem. If the cone is straight, the TBH is a pleasure to work. I think that your guides maybe too short. It looked as if the cone was straight until it extended past the guide and then everyone too on the natural wave. It looks neat, but is a real headache for us beekeepers. Try extending your guides to the width that you want you cone to be.
Also I use a hack saw blade with a knife style handle to release any attachments. So far my cone is mostly straight and very little attachments.
Also the position of your hive may affect the tendency to create cross-cone.
If you are interested, when you come down to the Sowega Beekeepers Club you can come by and take a look at mine.
Don't give up
CalvinAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27329001.post-5830511845641574172012-06-26T16:58:44.132-04:002012-06-26T16:58:44.132-04:00Dr. Dzierzon's Twin-Stock was probably a bett...Dr. Dzierzon's Twin-Stock was probably a better TBH.
http://archive.org/details/dzierzonsration00stutgoog

Page 76
http://archive.org/stream/dzierzonsration00stutgoog#page/n96/mode/2upAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27329001.post-36707690043535307922012-06-26T07:23:38.375-04:002012-06-26T07:23:38.375-04:00When I first started beekeeping, someone told me t...When I first started beekeeping, someone told me that every hive has its own personality. It didn't take long to see that she was right. And I started to have favorite hives, just like I have favorite people. And not-favorite hives. You're right about being aware of our biases. So true.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01041356917989003119noreply@blogger.com
