Bee Culture Article That I Wrote

I was so pleasantly surprised to find an article that I wrote had been accepted by Bee Culture and is in this month's issue:

I wrote about how to establish a hive inspection program for your bee club.  We have a great hive inspection program at Metro Atlanta that is now in its fourth year and doing well with good participation.  I had sent the article in at the beginning of the year and didn't have any idea that it had been chosen for publication!

This is my second article in Bee Culture.  I had an article in the February issue earlier this year on "Treating Your Speaker Well" - about how a bee club should manage guest speakers.

Here's what the article looks like in the magazine:

It's two pages - I felt quite honored that mine was chosen.

  1. Congratulations, sadly I don't get this in the UK.

  2. At the end of the month, I'll put the article up on the "Pages" section of this site. What beekeeping magazines do you have in the UK?

  3. Get article, Linda! I've been following your blog for more than a year (since I became a beek) and have learned a lot here, and enjoy reading about your bee adventures. When I got that issue yesterday, I didn't notice it was by you. Too bad you didn't put a link to your blog at the end of the article!

Sounds like the inspection program you guys have developed works great. Can't help thinking its sad just how much legal paperwork we have to think about these days, but necessary I suppose.

    When's the next article?

  4. I don't know - I send in articles and either Kim Flottum chooses them or he doesn't need them. I've sent in three and two of them have been published. I'm thinking of sending another one in on a topic that I've given as a talk to a number of bee clubs....but again, I'm not on the staff - just randomly sending them in - and either they are chosen or not. I am not in control of that!
